About Fun Street MagicThe Internet has been one of the best things to happen for magic performers and hobbyists for years. Magic afficionados have been able to share their experiences, ideas, and techniques more easily than ever before. This ability has spawned magic 'insider' web sites, chat rooms, and plenty of retailers of magic paraphenalia. One of the things about the Internet that magic enthusiasts should be aware of is that it's very helpful to spend time with other magicians. We try to sell a good variety of instructional videos and books (they're great entertainment, and you can really study the technique of the rich and famous...) but there's no substitute for comparing notes with friendly performers and hobbyists whenever you can. To that end, we will be adding links to magic clubs and gathering places so that you can find friendly support for your magic hobby in your home town, or as you travel on business. What a great way to make a business trip more enjoyable!! Fun Street Magic started with a discussion of this phenomenon which turned to a discussion of what's missing from the Internet magic scene. There are lots of great magic retailers out there, from the magic shops with national reputations to the great smaller shops that sometimes are run out of someone's home! Some of these shops have moved their great support and great reputations to the web, allowing the rest of us to have a better selection of illusions, supplies, and information. It would be presumptious to say that there is a huge gap (at least that we noticed), but perhaps what Fun Street Magic offers that is a bit unique is more of a philosophy than a concrete product or service. Magic is fun. It really is! Whether you enjoy learning how illusions work and perform them a few times for friends or in the office, or whether you have paying gigs, it is fascinating. It is also a hobby that despite it's charming nature (a mild pun) attracts lots of beginners who don't stay with it very long. So our philosphy centers around helping you, the hobbyist, the performer, or just the curious, become better informed and better equipped to get the most from the hobby. That's why we try to keep our prices for books, videos, and educational material as low as we can--in fact there aren't any lower prices on these items on the web that we're aware of. We want to sell you tricks and illusions, but we also want to Merchandise Returnshelp you find ways to get more value out of the magic tricks you buy or already own. A good illustration of this is the good old Ball and Tube. This is a classic trick, and it's easily learned. It's been around longer than anyone around here, and in it's simplest form it's really inexpensive. But it is a trick that you can carry in your pocket, and amaze people--not just with one routine, but with many! So buy the trick, and spend some time with it so you can really get some VALUE out of the purchase. Buy a book (which we also sell) to get some great routine variations. That's one way you can get hours of fun with a very small investment. So I suppose our philosphy is one of value. We want you to get the most for your money, and really be glad you did. We only sell magic on the web. Some of the great magic stores have web sites (some might call them marketing channels) and many of them have good merchandise, often at a fair price. But we sell much of the same merchandise, and we're focused on being the best e-tailers we can be. Fun. Value. That's it!! Great fun, great value. That's what we want to provide you. Help us do that. Let us know what you're looking for, what you think would be fun. If we can sell it, we will. If we can give it away or link to it, we'll do that. We aren't really one of those 'insider secrets' web sites. We will offer some insights into classic and famous illusions, but we don't want to be a 'spoiler' for hard working magicians and illusion designers. The 'who' part of Fun Street Magic is Joan Wilwerding and Steve Cobb--two telecom industry veterans with interest, background, and training in magic and the arts. We want to be your magic dealer, and we want you to be happy.
